Ryan Lochte held up at gunpoint in Rio

RIO DE JANEIRO — Ryan Lochte and at least one of his U.S. teammates were held up at gunpoint early Sunday morning, according to the swimmer’s mother. Lochte himself later confirmed the robbery to NBC.

Reached by USA TODAY Sports on Sunday morning, Ileana Lochte confirmed a report that Lochte was robbed. She said he was unharmed.

“I think they’re all shaken up. There were a few of them,” Ileana Lochte said. “No, they were just, they just took their wallets and basically that was it.
