The women’s individual saber competition came to an end Monday, with Russia grabbing both the gold and silver medals.
Yana Egorian beat countrywoman Sophia Velikaya in the gold medal match, the first-ever all-Russian final in women’s fencing history, and she also won Russia’s first gold medal in this particular event.
