Russian all-around gymnastics champion Nikolai Kuksenkov tested positive for meldonium, the nation’s gymnastics federation said Saturday, one day after he won the National title.
Russian coach Valentina Rodionenko said the sample was taken March 15, but the Russian men’s gymnastics team stopped taking meldonium in August, according to the Russian gymnastics federation website.
Kuksenkov, 26, finished fourth in the 2012 Olympic all-around while competing for Ukraine.
He switched to Russia after the London Games and was the top Russian man at the 2015 World Championships, finishing sixth in the all-around.
