RIO DE JANEIRO – For the tiny nation of Fiji, rugby sevens is beyond an Olympic event. It is a source of national pride.

The small Oceanic nation, which is comprised of over 300 islands in the South Pacific and boasts a population of just 800,000, enters the Olympics as the favorite to win gold.

Fiji, which has never won a gold medal in 16 Olympic appearances, showed why in a dominating performance against host nation Brazil in its first match of the Olympics on Tuesday.
