ANAHEIM, Calif. — Ragan Smith and her coach have something in common.
Smith won the P&G Championships on Sunday night, 25 years after coach Kim Zmeskal Burdette won her third consecutive national title. Next up: Seeing if she can win the all-around title at the world championships just as Zmeskal Burdette did in 1991.
Smith had 115.250 points, putting her 3½ in front of Jordan Chiles. Chiles squeezed past Riley McCusker on the final event and finished 0.2 points ahead.
Smith came into the meet as the heavy favorite, her stiffest competition not even on the floor with her.
