Rafael Nadal overcame his first lost set at the French Open in three years to win a quarterfinal that started Wednesday and finished Thursday due to rain.
Nadal, seeking his 11th French Open title, rallied past 11th-seeded Argentine Diego Schwartzman 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 after his streak of 37 straight sets won at Roland Garros was snapped.
The turning point came after the first of two Wednesday rain stoppages, when Nadal was down a set and a break at 3-2 in the second. The Spaniard won 16 of the final 20 games between Wednesday and Thursday.
