Olympian Henry Cejudo says he is "happy and lucky to be alive" after fleeing wildfires in California wine country.
The Phoenix native and Olympic gold-medal winning wrestler was attending a charity event in Santa Rosa. He was woken up early in the morning when his hotel was forced to evacuate.
But at first, Cejudo told Yahoo Sports, he saw nothing of concern and went back to sleep. When he woke up a second time, he was surrounded by smoke.
Cejudo was forced to evacuate on his own by jumping out of a second-story window:
“I saw houses on fire and I looked to my left and half of the hotel I was staying at, my floor, was on fire,” Cejudo told Yahoo Sports.
