Four-time Olympic swimming medalist Park Tae-hwan will not be allowed on South Korea’s team for the Rio Games due to his September 2014 positive drug test, according to South Korean reports.
Park was given an 18-month suspension after testing positive for testosterone, with the ban ending last month.
South Korea’s Olympic Committee has a rule that prevents athletes banned for doping from competing on a national team for another three years after their suspensions end.
Park won 400m freestyle gold and 200m freestyle silver at the Beijing 2008 Olympics, becoming the first South Korean Olympic swimming medalist.
