Oscar Pistorius Prison Release Date Announced, Will Be Moved to House Arrest

After spending one year in prison for the shooting death of Reeva Steenkamp, former Olympic track star Oscar Pistorius will be released Oct. 20.

According to BBC News, it was determined by a South African parole board that the 28-year-old will transition to house arrest.

Pistorius was sentenced to five years in prison last year after being found guilty of culpable homicide. The double amputee shot and killed his supermodel girlfriend in February 2013, but he claimed it was done in self defense, as he believed the person he shot at through the bathroom door in his home was an intruder.
