Oscar Pistorius said he doesn’t want to "waste his life sitting” in prison, something that's a real possibility as he awaits sentencing for the 2013 murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
Pistorius told British broadcaster ITV if he were "afforded the opportunity of redemption I would like to help the less fortunate."
"I would like to believe if Reeva could look down upon me she would want me to live that life,” Pistorius said.
Pistorius — the first amputee runner to compete in the Olympics when he represented South Africa in the 2012 London Games — didn’t testify during last week’s sentencing hearing.
