Former Olympic track star Oscar Pistorius returned to his jail cell in South Africa on Saturday after being treated at a hospital for wrist injuries.
According to the Associated Press (h/t ESPN.com), Pistorius denied speculation that his hospitalization was in relation to a failed suicide attempt. South Africa services department official Manelisi Wolela released a statement on Pistorius' condition via text message: "[Pistorius] denied speculations of a suicide attempt. As a policy principle, we cannot further discuss a particular offender's personal condition in the public domain."
Pistorius' brother, Carl Pistorius, had the following to say regarding the situation on Twitter:
The 29-year-old former Paralympic gold medalist is currently serving six years in jail for the shooting death of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in 2013.
