Olympics press briefings often a sport of reporters against officials

PYEONGCHANG, South Korea – The subject was new but the routine familiar: Reporters were pressing IOC spokesman Mark Adams relentlessly about an Olympics official who got into an altercation with a guard.

“I would suggest that that your Woodward and Bernstein ability … focus on something a bit more interesting,” an exasperated Adams told a reporter before turning to another question.

Welcome to the daily Olympics press briefing. Nearly every day, Adams and other officials on the platform begin the briefing with a focus on sports.

“Very exciting short track (skating) last night,” he said one morning.
