Marileidy Paulino became the first woman from the Dominican Republic to ever win gold at the Summer Olympics on Friday.
Paulino won the women's 400 meters in a landslide over Bahrain's Salwa Eid Naser inside the Stade de France.
Paulino took gold in an Olympic record time of 48.17 seconds to win just the third medal of the Paris Games for the Dominican Republic.
