RIO DE JANEIRO -- After waiting to enter the Olympic Park on Saturday, Gerardo Hendlin has some advice for Olympic organizers.
"They either need to improve their security or start praying," said Hendlin, 62, a tour operator from Argentina.
The first day of full competition at the Games was mired by complaints over security that was either too intense or too lax. Rio 2016 Organizing Committee spokesman Mario Andrada said visitors were stuck in line for up to one and a half hours Saturday morning at several events, including venues at the main Olympic Park.
