The United States was hoping for a repeat gold medal in the women's 4x100 race, and the Americans dominated rival Jamaica, winning with ease.
Tori Bowie had a huge lead when she took the baton on the anchor leg, and she sprinted home for the win. The United States won the event with a time of 41.01 seconds, the second-fastest time in Olympic history. Jamaica took second with a time of 41.36 seconds, while Great Britain finished third in 41.77 seconds.
In addition to Bowie, the other three runners included Allyson Felix, English Gardner and Tianna Bartoletta.
