ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — The Turkish Athletics Federation says Olympic 1500m silver medalist Gamze Bulut is under investigation for a possible doping violation.
The federation said Monday that the IAAF, track and field’s international governing body, has asked Bulut to submit her defense over irregularities in her biological passport, which monitors an athlete’s blood profile over time for signs of doping.
Bulut finished second in the 2012 Olympic 1500m behind countrywoman Asli Cakir Alptekin, who has since been stripped of her gold medal and is serving an eight-year ban for doping.
