Nick Symmonds’ company, Run Gum, files lawsuit against USATF, USOC

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Two-time Olympian Nick Symmonds and his coach filed a federal antitrust lawsuit against USA Track and Field and the U.S. Olympic Committee.

Symmonds and coach Sam Lapray own Run Gum, which sells caffeinated chewing gum. The suit filed Wednesday alleges the two organizations are illegally restricting sponsor advertising at the U.S. Olympic Trials, which are July 1-10 at Eugene’s Hayward Field.

Symmonds said in a release that Run Gum is looking to sponsor athletes at the event but isn’t allowed because it’s not an approved sponsor.

Run Gum is seeking to have the sponsor-advertising rules overturned.
