The president of the International Olympic Committee and the head of the International Ice Hockey Federation paid a “courtesy visit” to N.H.L. Commissioner Gary Bettman on Friday as the league considered whether its players would participate in the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.
Thomas Bach, the president of the I.O.C., and René Fasel, the I.I.H.F. president, met with Bettman and Don Fehr, the director of the N.H.L. Players’ Association, in New York for the first time to discuss the Pyeongchang Games.
