Long-distance runner Molly Huddle finished first in the 10,000m final at the Olympic Track and Field Trials to qualify for her second Olympic team. Her time was 31:41:62.
At the London Olympics, Huddle finished 11th in the 5,000m race. The 31-year-old nearly won a bronze medal in the 10,000m at the 2015 World Championships, but as she approached the finish line she slowed down to raise her arms in celebration. This allowed another U.S. runner, Emily Infield, to pass her and claim third place by .09 seconds.
“I feel like it kind of slipped through my fingers,” Huddle said afterwards.
