Missy Franklin and her parents chronicle the ups and downs in her swimming career, from four gold medals in London to the disappointment of Rio, in their new book, “Relentless Spirit.”
The book came out Tuesday, four months after the Rio Olympic swimming competition began. The Rio Games were agonizing for Franklin, whose struggles since winning six gold medals at the 2013 World Championships reached a nadir in Brazil
Franklin devoted pages to both Olympics, of course, and also other difficult times in her career, such as debilitating back spasms at the 2014 Pan Pacific Championships and her decision in 2015 to change coaches.
