PYEONGCHANG, South Korea -- The skiing isn’t the hard part.
Well, it is, regardless of how easy Mikaela Shiffrin makes it look. But as she learned in Pyeongchang, it is the mental gauntlet of the Olympics that is her biggest foe.
Shiffrin leaves these Olympics with two more medals, a gold and silver to add to her gold from four years ago. For someone who is still three weeks from her 23rd birthday, it is a staggering accomplishment, made all the more impressive for the fact they have come in three different disciplines.
“I’m over the moon,” Shiffrin said Friday.
