Mikaela Shiffrin mathematically clinched her second straight World Cup overall title, with five races left in the season, at a giant slalom in Ofterschwang, Germany on Friday.
The double Olympic champion wrapped up the crystal globe when Swiss Wendy Holdener, second in the overall standings, dropped out of the top two in Friday’s race.
Shiffrin was in fourth place after the first of two runs and will take her second run later.
Shiffrin raced Friday for the first time since the Olympics, where she took giant slalom gold and super combined silver, adding to her slalom gold from Sochi.
