Michael Phelps completed a perfect Olympic Trials, his final meet in the U.S., winning his third and final event, the 100m butterfly on Saturday night.
Phelps, the 22-time Olympic medalist, came in as the sixth seed and was fourth at the 50-meter mark but came back to win in 51.00 seconds.
“I wanted my last race to be a win,” Phelps told Michele Tafoya on NBCSN. “A special night. 51.0 gets the job done.”
Tom Shields was second to Phelps in 51.20. Shields also took second to Phelps in the 200m butterfly earlier this week.
