After a fourth-place finish in the men's 200-meter medley heat Thursday, Phelps responded Friday by winning the 100-meter butterfly at the 2015 AT&T Winter National Championships in Federal Way, Washington.
Phelps had to make a late charge to pass Tom Shields for the national title, winning by 0.03 seconds. USA Swimming tweeted out the winning result:
