The men's triathlon event, which was scheduled for Tuesday at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, was postponed until Wednesday due to concerns about the water quality in the Seine River.
According to the Associated Press (h/t ESPN), rain has caused the levels of E. coli and other bacteria to rise in the Seine, making it potentially unsafe to swim in.
In a statement, Olympic organizers said: "Despite the improvement on the water quality levels in the last hours, the readings at some points of the swim course are still above the acceptable limits.
