Seeking her first medal of the Games, Vonn on Monday posted the third-best time in her downhill training run, with the actual race set for Wednesday.
“I was trying to slow myself down,’’ Vonn said in an interview with NBC after covering the course in 1:40.10, behind Austria’s Stephanie Venier (1:39.75) and Italy’s Sofia Goggia (1:39.83). “I actually didn’t want to win the training run today. I like letting other people think that they’re faster.
“In skiing there are a few things you can do to play mind games so I use every opportunity.”
