Lilly King is going to Tokyo to defend her 100m breaststroke gold medal. She’s likely to be joined on the team by Lydia Jacoby, a 17-year-old who would be the first Alaskan to swim at an Olympics.
King won the 100m breast in 1:04.79 at the Olympic Trials in Omaha on Tuesday night. Jacoby, of Seward, Alaska, had the fastest final 50 meters to take second, .49 behind.
Jacoby has to wait until later in the Trials, which end Sunday, to have her Olympic spot confirmed, but it’s very likely at this point.
