Re “He Accosted a Runner. Now He’s Angry.” Aug. 7: Like millions, I was despondent to see Vanderlei de Lima have his rightful victory in the Olympic marathon cruelly thwarted by the actions of a violent religious fanatic. In a fitting and moving gesture, Rio’s organizing committee did a great deal to rectify this by selecting Mr. de Lima to light the Olympic caldron, providing him with his long overdue and well-deserved moment in the limelight.
