Katie Ledecky hasn't slowed down since swimming world championships

WASHINGTON — Nearly three months after dominating women’s swimming at the world championships, Katie Ledecky hasn’t slowed down much.

The 18-year-old from Bethesda, Md., has walked the red carpet and mingled with celebs, has enrolled in college courses and has continued to train with coach Bruce Gemmell after winning five gold medals at the world championships in Russia in early August.

She plans to compete Saturday at a meet in Delaware before opening the Arena Pro Swim Series season next week in Minneapolis.

After her success at worlds, she hasn't had much down time. “I’m training pretty hard right now, nine times a week in the pool and three times a week of dry land,” she said Friday at Children’s National Health System, where she was an invited guest for the opening of Seacrest Studios with Ryan Seacrest.
