Kassidy Cook just missed out on an Olympic berth four years ago. She left no doubt this year after cruising to victory in the women’s springboard event Sunday at the U.S. Olympic Diving Trials.
The 21-year-old held a comfortable lead entering the finals, and never relinquished it. Cook will make her Olympic debut after finishing second in synchro springboard and fourth individually at the 2012 Trials.
She’ll be joined in Rio by Abby Johnston, a silver medalist in synchro at the London Olympics. Johnston, 26, entered the final round of Trials in second place and fended off Laura Ryan for the second U.
