Justin Gatlin appeared perturbed shortly before outgoing IAAF president Lamine Diack draped his silver medal around his neck in the World Championships 100m medal ceremony on Monday night.
Gatlin, who lost to Usain Bolt in the 100m final by .01 on Sunday, made eye contact with a spectator inside the Bird’s Nest in Beijing during the awards presentation a day later.
Seconds later, after pausing to receive his medal, Gatlin then pointed and scowled at the spectator. He was looking at a man heckling his mother, according to The Associated Press.
