Julia Mancuso, a four-time Olympian with four Olympic medals, will not race in the Alpine skiing World Cup season-opening giant slalom in Soelden, Austria, on Oct. 24, due to a hip injury, according to her Instagram.
Mancuso, 31, will miss the start of the season for the first time since 2006.
Mancuso is better at the speed events of downhill and super-G, so she could wait until the first speed races of the season the first week of December to debut, like Lindsey Vonn the last two seasons.
Mancuso cut her 2014-15 season short due to right hip pain and skipped the World Cup Finals in March.
