Jessie Diggins wins second career individual World Cup cross-country race

Olympian Jessie Diggins became the second U.S. woman to win multiple individual World Cup cross-country events, taking a 5km freestyle in Lillehammer, Norway, on Saturday.

Diggins, 25, clocked 12 minutes, 40.3 seconds to prevail by 4.8 seconds in the second stage of a three-stage mini tour. The Minnesota native also won a 5km race last season.

Diggins owns world championships gold and silver medals, taking a team sprint title with four-time Olympian Kikkan Randall in 2013 and runner-up in the 10km freestyle in 2015.

Randall, coming back this season from pregnancy, has 14 career World Cup wins.
