PYEONGCHANG, South Korea — Jessie Diggins already made history, but still had some guts left for one last race.
The final event at the Winter Games before the closing ceremony on Sunday was the women’s cross-country 30-kilometer mass start. It’s a completely exhausting demonstration of strength and endurance after two weeks of brutal Nordic competition — if you haven’t watched this race, just imagine a marathon, but running uphill in the snow on skis for an hour-and-a-half or so.
Diggins, who has had one heck of an Olympics, finished seventh in 1 hour, 25 minutes and 54.
