PYEONGCHANG, South Korea -- A British member of the International Olympics Committee was sent home after an altercation with a security guard here, the IOC confirmed Friday.
Adam Pengilly, 40, who competed in skeleton at the 2006 and 2010 Winter Games, admitted he made "errors" and has left the Games, said Mark Adams, an IOC spokesman.
Pengilly issued an apology to the security guard. The IOC issued its own apology, adding that local security authorities were doing an excellent job at the Olympics.
Adams said he didn't have details about the incident, but in an interview in Inside The Games, Pengilly said didn't touch the guard.
