The freestyle skier Gus Kenworthy came out as gay, saying that hiding his sexuality during the 2014 Winter Olympics had soured his silver medal win. Kenworthy, 24, made his announcement on Twitter to coincide with the publication of an interview with ESPN the Magazine.
He was part of an American sweep of medals at the Sochi Games, which were dogged by protests from gay rights activists over Russian laws banning so-called gay propaganda.
