Great Britain sets Olympic record, wins track cycling gold

Having won the last two Olympic team sprint track cycling competitions, Great Britain arrived in Rio as favorites to accomplish that feat for a third straight Games.

Great Britain met those expectations and then some, taking gold in an Olympic record time of 42.440 seconds. Philip Hindes, Jason Kenny and Callum Skinner made up the team for Great Britain, with Hindes and Kenny being members of their gold medal team at the last Summer Olympics. While Hindes now has two Olympic team sprint gold medals to his credit, this is the third Olympic gold for Kenny.

New Zealand took silver with a time of 42.
