Gold medal from 1932 Olympics found in day care center

A Los Angeles 1932 Olympic gold medal missing for decades was recently found inside a safe discovered while renovating a German day care center, according to German media.

The medal belonged to German rower Horst Hoeck, who won gold in the coxed fours and lived in the building from 1945 to 1949, according to German press agency DPA.

Hoeck died in 1969.
