Garbine Muguruza suffers earliest exit for defending Wimbledon champ in 24 years

LONDON (AP) — Defending champion Garbine Muguruza is out of Wimbledon in the second round.

It’s the earliest exit for a defending women’s champion since Steffi Graf was bounced by American Lori McNeil in the first round in 1994.

Muguruza, the No. 3 seed, was stunned 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 by 47th-ranked Alison Van Uytvanck of Belgium.
