Gabby Douglas suffered a knee injury the day before leaving for the world championships last October, but its seriousness wasn’t known until after the meet, Douglas’ mother reportedly said after the Olympic Trials.
Douglas, the London 2012 all-around champion named to her second Olympic team on Sunday night, suffered the injury on a vault in training, according to the San Jose Mercury News, which reported she was on crutches for two months after worlds but did not require surgery.
The Washington Post reported Douglas was on crutches for three months.
