SAINT-GERVAIS-LES-BAINS, France (AP) — Chris Froome crashed shortly before the end of the Tour de France's 19th stage on Friday before continuing with a teammate's bike to keep the race leader's yellow jersey.
With that jersey torn, cuts and bruises on his back and blood on his right elbow, Froome looked uncomfortable on Thomas' bike. He still managed to finish only 36 seconds behind Romain Bardet, who posted the first French victory at this year's Tour after a solo breakaway.
Bardet attacked in a descent moments before Froome slipped on road paint and hit the ground. The two-time champion was able to continue racing after Geraint Thomas gave him his bike.
