From 41 to 61, meet the elder Olympians who will contend in Rio

Earlier this week, we introduced you to the youngest athlete at the Olympic games, Gaurika Singh.

But what about the elders of the 2016 Games in Rio?

Records are going to tumble in Brazil this month, at least in terms of the age of the participants. Consider:

— Uzbekistan gymnast Oksana Chusovitina is set to become the oldest female gymnast in Olympic history. The 41-year-old is actually considered a medal contender, too, when she’ll attempt to add to the vault silver she won in 2008. Singh was five at the time.

— Canadian coxswain Lesley Thompson-Willie will be going for her sixth Olympic medal, one that will make the most accomplished Olympian in national history.
