French pole vaulter Renaud Lavillenie walked away with a silver medal in his event, but he might be remembered more in Rio for his reaction to Brazilian fans.
Lavillenie — the world record holder in the event — was booed by fans at Olympic Stadium when he attempted his final jump because Brazil’s Thiago da Silva was in the lead. Here’s Lavillenie’s reaction, via USA TODAY Sports:
“It’s the first time that everybody is against me. Is not against only me, is against all of the pole vaulters except the Brazilian guy. There is no respect.
