Fraser-Pryce closing in on Olympic sprint triple

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Watch out Usain Bolt, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce might get that triple of Olympic 100-meter titles first.

Double defending champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce ran her season's best of 10.88 seconds to reach the final of the 100 and showed all the confidence that two titles bring.

In a direct confrontation with European champion Dafne Schippers, the Jamaican sprinter dominated from the start and even had time to let up a bit at the line. Schippers was late out of the blocks and the Dutchwoman struggled all the way to finish second in 10.90, hardly a race to impress her rivals.
