Two months after testifying about her former USA Gymnastics team doctor's abuse, six-time Olympic medalist Aly Raisman addressed a crowd of college students in Buffalo.
As part of the University at Buffalo's first in-person Distinguished Speaker Series since 2019, Raisman relayed a message of growth and healing, urging the students, faculty and staff gathered to shoulder the responsibility of empowering abuse survivors.
“I get a lot of letters after I speak at colleges and a lot of students say that they report, and the school will say, ‘Well, you know, it’s a star football player, so we can’t do anything about it,'” Raisman said on a brightly lit stage.
