Former coach of Olympic gymnasts faces child molestation charges

A former coach of two 2008 U.S. Olympic gymnasts faces four felony counts of sexual misconduct with a minor and three felony counts of child molestation after being arrested in Indianapolis early Monday morning, according to an online court record.

Marvin Sharp, who formerly coached Beijing Olympic silver medalists Bridget Sloan and Samantha Peszek, is scheduled for an initial hearing Wednesday at 1 p.m. ET.

The Indiana natives Sloan and Peszek haven’t trained under Sharp in three years.

Sloan retired from elite competition after missing the 2012 Olympic team and enrolled at the University of Florida in August 2012.
