After twice dislocating her shoulder this season and with less than a year until Rio 2016, it’s crunch time for Kerri Walsh Jennings and partner April Ross now more than ever.
Walsh Jennings returns to competition this week to play with Ross in the ASICS World Series of Beach Volleyball in Long Beach, Calif., through Aug. 23, five weeks after reinjuring the right shoulder she dislocated in May in Switzerland.
“I do maybe an hour and a half on my shoulder every day of physical work,” Walsh Jennings told USA TODAY Sports. “But then I’ll do a laser, I’m sleeping on a magnet (to promote blood flow), I’ve gotten PRP injections (platelet rich plasma therapy, a procedure that relieves pain and accelerates the healing process), and then I’m getting physical work on the rest of my body for the rest of my day too.
