After winning the 400 meter world title last summer, American Allyson Felix will look to add an Olympic gold medal in the event to her collection Monday night.
Felix was one of three Team USA runners to qualify for the final, and her time of 49.67 seconds in her semifinal heat was the best among the eight women who advances. Natasha Hastings (49.90 seconds) and Phyllis Francis (50.31 seconds) also qualified, with Hastings’ time ranking third and Francis’ ranking fifth.
Posting the second-best time in the semifinal heats was Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson, who finished in 49.93 seconds.
