Every 2018 Olympic sport to be captured in live VR

NEW YORK — Fans can experience live coverage of all 15 sports at the PyeongChang Olympics in virtual reality, Intel announced Wednesday, launching a sponsorship deal with the International Olympic Committee.

“The Olympics are entering the digital age,” IOC president Thomas Bach said. “We saw that already in Rio, but since then, we have seen further progress in this respect.”

The NBC Sports app had more than 100 hours of VR programming during the Rio Olympics, including next-day coverage of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. But just two sports — basketball and fencing — had live VR coverage.
