Ethiopia swept the Boston Marathon men’s and women’s races for the first time on Monday.
Lemi Hayle, 21, clocked an unofficial 2:12:45, pulling away from countryman Lelisa Desisa in the final two miles.
Atsede Baysa was the surprise women’s winner, coming from more than 30 seconds behind in the final five miles.
She clocked an unofficial 2:29:19, beating countrywoman Tirfi Tsegaye by 44 seconds.
Baysa, 29, is the first Ethiopian woman to win Boston since 2010, breaking a five-year Kenyan streak.
Tatyana McFadden, an 11-time Paralympic medalist across Summer and Winter Games, won the women’s wheelchair race a fourth straight time.
